Lightning and Boats examines the phenomenon of lighting and provides the boater a three-tiered approach to safety and strike prevention. Starting with avoidance, the book describes low-cost equipment that any boater can employ to reduce the likelihood of a strike occurring. Nest discussed is the subject of proper grounding and safety precautions to protect the crew and vessel should the worst case scenario of an actual strike occur. Finally, the secondary effects of lightning are discussed with regard to controlling the potential foe adverse effects on installed equipment; this last tier being the most common result of a strike or near strike, especially among unmanned boats at moorings or while out of the water.
